The Municipality of Anadia has been developing a wide range of projects and investing in sustainability such as renewable energies – energetic efficiency, implementation of renewable energies in Anadia Sports Complex, by the application of solar heating systems either in the pools or in the Sports Complex (using it for heating the tap waters and the pool tanks water) as well as all the HAVC system and air renewal of the Sports Complex.
In 2008, the Municipality of Anadia has joined the “Platform for Sustainable Construction – Habitat Center, whose headquarter is located in Curia, in the county of Anadia.
Since then, the Municipality has provided its contribution carrying out actions to promote innovation and development projects that use construction technology and techniques that ensure the work sustainability, always aiming better environmental performances as well as to improve energetic efficiency.
Commitment policies for sustainability
Considering its financial management and its investment strategy, the Municipality of Anadia keeps the exigency and the compromise with sustainability policies which guide its actions. Priority has been given to the construction of public facilities for Education and, more recently, to the environmental infrastructures.
Anadia Municipality has recently held a public tendering for a big investment to enlarge and build the ETAR of Sangalhos which has an estimated cost of 4 million euros. It consists on a system that will be able to treat almost all the county sewage effluents, in terms of the integrated system of sewage network of Anadia County.
Besides the water treatment, the final result will ensure environmental sustainability by the reuse of recycled water in the irrigation system as well as in the sanitary system of the installation itself.
Besides this, the sewage sludge could be used in agriculture. In the future, we intend to add some more investment to reuse solar energy as well to transform exhaust gases into energy to ensure lower costs and to increase the energetic efficiency of this infrastructure.
