In the current globalized world, it is clear that the linear model of economic development no longer serves the purpose of sustainable development. Given the finite nature of many natural resources, it is essential to seek their use in a sustainable way. It is also in the economic interest of the companies to use the available resources in a more intelligent and sustainable way.

This way, the circular economy emerges as a catalyst for competitiveness and innovation, arguing that waste should be considered as secondary raw materials by promoting reuse, recovery and recycling. It represents, therefore, an enormous opportunity with several associated benefits, with emphasis on: Environmental Impact, through the reduction of the consumption of raw materials and energy; Social Impact, through the improvement and durability of the relationship with the different partners; Economic Impact, by stimulating creativity, innovation in reducing costs and fostering job creation.

In this context, the European Commission adopted a package of measures, at the end of 2015, to stimulate Europe's transition to a circular economy that will enhance global competitiveness, promote sustainable economic growth and create new jobs. In this session, you will be clarified on:

- The promotion of innovation through the Circular Economy;

- Instruments to encourage the transition to a Circular Economy.
