The Circular Cities Workshop was a success!

The Sustainable Habitat Cluster organized on April 10, at the Instituto Pedro Nunes in Coimbra, the Workshop "Circular Cities", within the framework of the DEGREN project.

This Workshop aimed to promote the discussion about the role of Ecodesign (Design for sustainability) of products and solutions in the context of the development of cities and territories, in a perspective of their contribution to the Circular Economy.

 

 

 

 

At the opening session, Victor Ferreira, President of the Sustainable Habitat Cluster, explained the contribution of the DEGREN project to the Ecodesign and to the "Circular Cities".

   

Then, Jorge Pimenta (Instituto Pedro Nunes) started the panel highlighting the work that the IPN has done in the area of "Entrepreneurship for the Circular Economy".

   

Catarina Santos of RCD, S.A. addressed the issue of "RCDs (Construction and Demolition Waste) in Product Ecodesign".

   

Hugo Tocha of TUU (Building Design Management) shared his vision and experience on the theme "Buildings for more circular cities".

   

Ramón Osório from CEIFAcoop presented "the way of Ecodesign for the Circular City" through European projects in this field, in which the entity participated.

   

From the Municipality of Condeixa, Helena Bigares, spoke about several revealing cases of the "Municipal Model of Waste Management" as a tool to reach circularity.

   

As part of the TransSMART Project, Pedro Mêda of the Construction Institute (IC-FEUP) shared, with the participants, the "contributions of circularity to the intelligent built environment", which this project intends to aggregate.

   

This event was attended by various agents (companies, R&D centers, municipalities, professionals, among others) with potential and possible interest in Ecodesign.
